An international rated chess player with many national level achievements and professional coaching experience at schools and institutes over a decade. He is a Sports Journalist in profession, presently serving as a sports journalist/ consultant to Roar Global Media Network since 2018. In addition, he has served Papare.com sports media network during 2018-2020.

Served as the Principle Chess Coach at following institutions.

- Pinnawala Central College -2018-2020
His students participated World Youth, World School, Asian Youth, Asian School and Commonwealth games chess events

- All island inter school chess championship 2006 conducted by the school chess association - Best on board 3(u-18 boys)
- Super six all island inter school chess championship conducted by the school chess association - Best on board 3(open)
- All island international chess championship 2005 conducted by the Thurstan college Colombo - Best on board 3(u-20 boys)
- All island inter school chess championship 2004 conducted by the Kegalu chess club - Champions (u-15 boys)
- All island individual chess championship 2004 conducted by the Kegalu chess club - Champion(u-15 boys)
